"All Hands on Deck" Initiative

 The "All Hands on Deck" initiative aims to empower and educate parents, school administrators, educators, support staff, and community members to collectively support the growth and development of the students involved in the Black Unicorn Mentorship Program. Here are a list of some of the training topics that we offer. 

Provides insights into the historical and cultural context of the African American experience, helping participants understand the unique challenges and strengths of black students. 

Educates on cultural competence, encouraging participants to embrace diversity and create an inclusive and supportive environment for students of all backgrounds. 

Enhances communication skills and strategies for effective collaboration between parents, educators, and support staff to ensure a cohesive support system for the students. 

Raises awareness about mental health issues prevalent in African American communities and equip participants with tools to recognize signs of distress and provide appropriate support. 

Shares strategies to motivate and engage students in their educational journey, emphasizing the importance of education in their lives and communities.

Educates on trauma-informed approaches to understand and support students who may have experienced trauma, promoting a safe and nurturing learning environment.

Provides training on resolving conflicts and implementing restorative practices, fostering a positive school culture and healthy relationships.

Guides parents on how to actively engage in their child's education, offering practical ways to support learning at home and be involved in school activities.

Addresses the issue of bullying, providing strategies to prevent and respond to bullying incidents to ensure a safe and respectful school environment.

Focuses on the unique challenges and opportunities for empowering black girls, including discussions on self-esteem, leadership, and overcoming gender-related barriers.

Educates parents and educators on financial literacy and planning, emphasizing the importance of financial education for students' future success.
